A highlight of our visit to Hoi An
Our family took a 1/2 day tour around Hoi An on motorbikes on our last day in Hoi An. Long was our guide. While I rode on the back of Long’s bike, my husband and adult children rode on their own scooters. What a wonderful adventure we had. While I was initially a bit disappointed that I didn’t ride my own scooter after realizing I was a bit shaky, in the end it turned out to be a much better experience because Long and I were able to have a discussion about Vietnamese culture, politics and history during our trip. It also gave my family an opportunity to do some very adventurous riding along some very muddy terrain through rice fields. Mud was flying everywhere and we all loved it! We also went to the home of a pottery maker, had delicious tea and tried our hand at throwing a pot. We visited other local businesses including a cotton mill and watched a family make straw mats. It all felt very respectful-no uncomfortable feeling of being a gawking tourist. The combination of getting to see village life, know more about Long, getting an insider view of Vietnam and riding scooters all added up to a fantastic and unforgettable excursion. I highly recommend Adventure Motorbike Tours and want to say that Long is an amazing tour guide.
